NOTE: "Challenge Groups" are groups of challenges, often meant to be completed at a specific location or are related in some other way. They are not challenges meant to be completed by groups of people. Word order matters!
Creating a Challenge Group
- Navigate to the Admin Portal. If you need a refresher on how to do that, check out How to Access the Admin Portal.
- Click on [Challenges].
- Click on the (+) button.
- Click [Group] in the menu that appears.
- Tap on the newly created Challenge Group at the bottom of the list. Think of it as a folder where the actionable challenges will reside.
Editing the Main Challenge Group Details
This will bring you into the Challenge Group's list, with its main details at the top. Click on the details.
General
- Title: Enter a title.
- Description: Enter a text description explaining why these challenges are grouped together. How are they related? You may also want to make it clear if the challenges have to be completed in order -- players will be able to find out for themselves, but it's good practice to let them know!
- (Optional) After Complete: If you'd like to display some text underneath the green Completed checkmark at the bottom of the challenge once the challenge is completed, type it into this box. Unlike the popups that appear after the challenge is completed, text typed in here will always be available for players to view. However, it is more subtle than the popups.

- (Optional) Image URL: If you'd like to display an image, enter the URL of an image that is publicly hosted online, or upload your own!
- (Optional) Width to Height Ratio: Enter the aspect ratio of the image. Aspect ratio = image width/image height. For example, a 1024x1024 size image would have an aspect ratio of 1, while a 1024x512 size image would have an aspect ratio of 2, etc.
- (Optional) Completed Image URL: If you'd like to display an image for players to see after they complete the Challenge Group, enter the URL of an image that is publicly hosted online or upload your own!
- (Optional) Audio URL: If you'd like to include a sound clip, enter the URL of a sound clip that is publicly hosted online or upload your own!
- (Optional) Video URL: If you'd like to include a video, enter the URL of a video that is publicly hosted online or upload your own!
- (Optional) YouTube Video ID: If you'd like to include a YouTube video, enter in its ID. You can get the ID from the video's page by clicking on [Share] -- the ID is everything after the last "/" in the link. For example, for this video: https://youtu.be/fSsP63gBQnI the ID is fSsP63gBQnI.
- Complete in any order: By default, the box will NOT be checked. If you would like for all of the sub challenges to be accessible from the beginning (an unordered Challenge Group), check this box. Otherwise, only the first sub challenge will be accessible from the beginning, and players must complete it to unlock the next sub challenge (ordered Challenge Group).
- (Optional) Streak Rules: By default, the box will NOT be checked. If you would like for players to only be able to complete challenges in this group until they fail one, check this box.
Availability
- Use event start and end dates: By default, the box WILL be checked. If you would like for this specific Challenge Group not to appear until a certain date and time or to disappear by a certain date and time, you may set a start and end time that's different from the event.
- (Optional) Set Password for Challenge: By default, the box will NOT be checked. If you would like for players to only be able to access this Challenge Group by entering in a password, check this box.
- If you do check this box, a new field will appear where you can type in your desired password.
Random Pool
- (Optional) Pool name: If you want to create a random pool of challenges, of which only 1 is shown to the player, enter in a name for this pool in the textbox.
- If you want to add another challenge to the same pool as this one, make sure to type in EXACTLY the same Pool name. Take care not to add any extra spaces or punctuation, otherwise our system will likely read it as a separate challenge pool.
- You can have multiple challenge pools! We recommend making the pool names descriptive, i.e. "colors," "shapes," "numbers," instead of "pool1," "pool2," "pool3," so that there is less risk of typing in the wrong Pool name.
Saving
- (Optional) Save as a draft: If you only want the Challenge Group to be visible to admins, check this box.
Click the [SAVE CHANGES] button every once in a while after making changes.
- This will update the Challenge Group details in both the Challenge Group's list and the main Challenges list in the event.
Adding Sub Challenges to the Challenge Group
- You'll now need to add your desired combination of other challenges within this Challenge Group.
- Tap on the (+) button, then select the first Challenge Type you would like to add.
- From here, the process is much the same as adding an individual challenge of that type. Please refer to our articles for each individual Challenge Type if you need more assistance:

- QR Challenges
- GPS Challenges
- Text Challenges

- Remember to tap [SAVE CHANGES] often -- perhaps after you finish entering in each challenge -- so that you don't risk losing work. You never know when your internet connection will cut out!
- You can always tap the [<--] button to return to the main Challenge list.
